RAD Ballet Examinations

Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) Ballet Exams are offered to students from Grade 1 Ballet and upwards.

To be eligible for an exam, students must be enrolled in conditioning, and take a minimum of two ballet classes per week (three for those wishing to sit their Advanced 2 examination).

Students must also make their attendance to classes a priority; an attendance rate of less than 80% may compromise the student's ability to sit their exam.

Graded examinations (Grades 1 - 5 Ballet) are held in mid - late Term 3.

They are generally filmed at our Brockman Street studio, and sent away to an RAD examiner for marking.

Vocational examinations (Intermediate Foundation and upwards) are held in Perth at the beginning of Term 3.

Students wishing to sit their vocational exam are required to complete a holiday course in Perth, held during the April school holidays.

Only RAD Registered Teachers are authorised to enter students for RAD ballet exams. These teachers have met the professional standards and training requirements set by the RAD, ensuring a high quality of dance education.

Students will only be entered into the exam if the teacher is confident that they are at a satisfactory level.
